1. An argument is not at all a requirement of a successful negotiation. In most of the negotiations, it is the first thing that is avoided. An argument can kill a good negotiation and can also cut out to profits for both the parties and kill the benefits of the negotiations.( de Oliveira, M.M., 2017)
2. Yes, it is completely possible to have a negotiation without an argument, it is actually prefe
ed to have it that way so that benefits for both the negotiating parties are kept in mind.( Kochan, T.A. and Lipsky, D.B. eds., 2018)
3. The opposite of an argument is agreement/harmony which is the ultimate aim of the negotiation and yes it is definitely useful in negotiation.
4. Yes, the project manager has to be good in negotiations since many a times the manager would have to stand for his team. He has to be a strong leader who doesn’t just do what the superiors say but also has an opinion and can stand for the team when needed. The manager has to negotiate: Time, budget, performances etc of the team in time of promotions.
