Study the communication process illustrated in your text in chapter 1 (see Figure 1.1). Write a short scenario in which the communication process does not go well for the people involved. It should be abusiness communication. If possible, use an exchange that actually happened. The miscommunication shouldnotbe solely caused by language issues.Do not pick a problem that has been solved.
Miscommunication should be based on a problem that doesnothave a simple solution (do not talk to people when they're on the phone; speak to people in their own language). Best solutions are a process improvement that isnota one-time solution that could only be applied to this one situation with same people involved. Be sure process improvement can be applied in similar situations with different people. Develop an organizational process improvement solution. Donotuse a communication problem that was already solved.
Discuss the situation rather than preparing a dialogue recreating the situation.
Using the model as your guide, walk through the communication process to show where and why communication broke down. Explain who the people were, what medium was used, what messages wereencoded and decoded, what the barriers were, and what contexts existed. Explain how the communicationprocesscould be improved.
