Since this is not just a standard Six Sigma deployment, BHP Billiton leaders have decided to call this global Operational Excellence (OE) part of ensuring that participants feel a bigger whole. The OE was launched globally in April 2000 and the initial training course began in April 2000. In 2001, BHP Billiton acquired Billiton, a global leader in metals and mining.
