In the case study of Conifer Corp, there are numerous symptoms that indicate something went wrong. Essentially, there were no supervisor for the handling the packaging department. Furthermore, the company has no clear job description for the employees which implies same person is responsible for planning for packaging department in the morning shift and in-charge of operations in the evening shift. From the Conifer Corp case study, it is evident to discern the boom, sawmill and department of packaging operates every day in two fundamental shifts. Both these shifts are based on the rotation amongst the employee-staff dividing them in two groups that is morning shift and evening shifts (Bang, D., & Frith, C. D., 2017).
Furthermore, there is enhanced productivity observed in the sawmilling departments while performance in all other departments remains constant. Furthermore, the inventory cost for the Conifer is escalating while the packaging department can process the entire production without any overtime. Lastly, certain employees aren’t productive or even punctual in the packaging department. Employees are dealing with the problem of low morale and engagement with the defined work in the company.
