Essay prompt
Throughout the term, from multiple angles, we have discussed how the
COVID-19 pandemic is NOT an equalizer that affects us all in the same way, rather it exace
ates pre-
existing and cu
ent crises. We have analyzed different aspects of the pandemic from prisons
(Davis, Maynard and Piché, Foucault, or Wacquant) to disability (Wong or Ginsburg, Mills,
and Rapp), from addiction (Alexander) to LTCHs (Whe
y).
Pick one cu
ent large issue that we have discussed during the term (e.g., systemic racism, the carceral
state, SGBV, structural violence, surveillance capitalism, disability, etc.) and one specific aspect
of that issue (note: topics from each class, for instance, prisons, LTCHs, the Internet and social
media, addiction) of the pandemic. Describe as best as you can
what the general problem is (connect the large issue with the specific aspect) and how it is connected
to the COVID-19
pandemic (for instance, connecting structural violence and institutional neglect at LTCHs).
Analyze who the central social actors are in this particular problem. Then, propose one (1)
state intervention (at any level: Federal, Provincial or Municipal) to lessen the
problem/crisis you have chosen to analyze. Support your answer with two examples from the
eadings, movies or issues discussed in the group presentations.
Please only consider Canada and preferably write on Long term care homes.

As per the report of the Canada Medical Association (2020) during the pandemic, the authorities failed to provide reasonable care and support to the inmates in long-term care homes. People in long-term care required special care and support at all times, while analysing long –term care service providers we can understand that they failed to manage the problems faced by the people. In this research paper, we are analysing the performance of long-term care homes in Canada during the pandemic time. We are also analysing the various problems faced by the inmates in long-term care homes, due to the spread of COVID and other related issues.
Canada health act was published in the year of 1984 and the authorities failed to incorporate the rules and regulations related to long-term care homes in the act. If we are analysing the impact of COVID 19 on long-term care homes, we can understand that it created deadly vulnerabilities and problems. The long-term care homes industry has been faced with several issues over the years that have impeded the success of many organizations.
