Answer 1: People, Information and Information Technology
Woodward Inc. is the largest publicly held company that design, manufacture and
provide service of control system fir aircraft engines. In addition to this company also provide
the control system components of aircraft engines. For their competitive advantage company’s
esources such as people, information, and information technology helps to the company. People
are the main and important resource for the company. Experienced and technical people in the
company are making their contribution in designing and manufacturing high quality and latest
design fuel pumps, air valves, actuators, engine controls, fuel nozzles and electronic components
for aircraft engines (Ca
, 2013).
In addition to this, information and information technology is also playing an important
ole in the company to achieve their competitive advantage. Woodward Inc. has developed an
information sharing culture in their organization that is helpful for the management to run the
information within the organization. The information system is made easier for the Woodward
Inc. to get competitive advantage, with the help of information system managers is able to keep,
evaluate and monitor the data and activities any time and it is also helpful for integrating the
information and other practices within the organization (Claretha, 2012).

advantage within the industry. It has been identified that there are five forces that able to define
the competitive power of Woodward Inc. within the industry.
Supplier Power: GE is the biggest supplier of Woodward Inc. that integrates fuel system
for Woodward Inc. as major players in the aerospace/defense and energy markets were trimming
their supplier base (Kowalschek, 2013).
Buyer Power: Buyer power means how easy for Woodward Inc. to makes for buyers to
drive prices down. Limited and selected big buyers are helpful for the company to give
competition to their rivals in the industry (Roy, 2011).
Competitive Rivalry: It is all about the number and capability of the rivalries. Woodward
Inc. has this competitive power very less as company has some major competitors in the market

Corporation (Kowalschek, 2013).
Threat of Substitution: Threat of the substitution power of the company is very good as
the company is using the latest technology and no substitute is there for engine components.
Substitution could not provide the same quality products (Roy, 2011).
Threat of New Entry: According to Portal’s five forces model it is necessary to identify
the power of the threat of new entry. Woodward Inc. industry required huge capital for a person
to get entered into this business so the threat of new entry, power is also good for the company
(Kowalschek, 2013).

Supply Chain Management System: This is one of the major capabilities of the company
as the company supplying their products and services globally with the help of their internal
integration system. Supply chain management system in the company is very helpful to them to
supply their products and to provide services globally (Goyal, 2011).
Enterprise Resource Planning System: Woodward resource planning system is helpful for
the company for their plant in which they provide facilities for approximately 1,000 employees
to perform research, manufacturing, engineering, environmental/certification testing, final
assembly product support, marketing and administration (Ku

Customer relationship management system: Woodward Inc. is working to maintain
elationships with their customers as the company is working to get the customer loyalty.
Customer loyalty is also helpful for the company for getting a competitive advantage. Customer
