Chapter 12 Terms

Masculinities text http:
www.raewynconnell.net/p/masculinities_20.html
This post has 4 parts:
1. Post 2 images: one that represents masculinity to you, and one that represents femininity to you. Keep in mind that this is about *your* ideas of masculinity and femininity, so the images you post do not have to access traditional gender stereotypes. Do not simply search for the terms masculinity and femininity, use search terms relevant to your ideal.
2. Define the terms sex and gender, from Chapter 12 in our text.
3. Use the key terms of sex and gender, describe what about each image makes it emblematic of each gender ideal.
4. After each explanation, discuss what characterizations (stereotypes / generalizations / essentializations) of gender found in the image are problematic, focusing on inequality and experiences for people who do not appear to fit the specific gender norms. Make sure to reference an idea or statement in from the Masculinities text or video in your discussion.
