ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES
Employability Skills
This Employability Skills module is a 10-week programme and your assessment grades from this
module will go towards your final degree mark. During your 10-week Employability skills
programme, you will attend 10 lectures and 10 tutorial sessions
In each lecture, you will research and evaluate a variety of theories, concepts and principles. You
will prepare for an interview at the end of this module which you will reflect on as part of the
‘critical reflection’ assignment as instructed on page 4 of this document.
During the tutorials, you will work both individually and as part of a group, to complete practical
tasks tailored for your programme of study:

Employability Skills Assignment CW2: 70% of your overall grade
Over 10 weeks, you will work towards increasing your self-awareness and developing your
employability skills in order to be able to apply for a cu
ent job within your sector (related to your
programme of study).
Your lessons will be
oken down into three main themes:
1. ‘KNOW YOURSELF’ Weeks 1 to 3 will be about developing your self-awareness
2. ‘KNOW YOUR SECTOR’ Weeks 4 is about commercial awareness of your sector
3. ‘LET THEM KNOW YOU’ Weeks 5 to 10 you will prepare to present yourself at an
interview
For this coursework assignment, you are required to write a critical reflection with a word limit of

from the course as outlined below:

Critical appraisal is a systematic process used to identify the strengths and
weaknesses of a research article in order to assess the usefulness and validity
of research findings.

Critical reflection is about considering our own thoughts, feelings, and
experiences and determining how they fit in with the ideas, concepts, and
theories that have been presented by others (Ryerson University, 2016)
Employability
portfolio
It is a collection of student work that shows evidence of learning and progress
in one or more areas. This collection “represents a personal investment on
ehalf of the student that is evident through the student’s participation in the
selection of the contents and self-reflection” (Gisselle and Martin-Kniep 2000).
