Task Summary
In this assessment, you will develop and deliver a presentation on Managing Projects, Project Leadership
and Leading teams.
Context:
Project managers need to both manage and lead the project team. Managing and leading a team have
different focuses from each other. Managing is about coping with complexity and making plans to
achieve set objectives, whereas leading is about initiating changes and providing direction. Managing
and leading are both critical to the success of projects. This assessment requires you to present your
understanding of the key aspects and strategies for managing a project and leadership on a project.

Instructions:
1. Conduct preliminary research into how to manage projects and how to lead a team.
2. Research actual industry projects that have been successful and projects that have failed.
3. Prepare and deliver a 7-minute PowerPoint presentation answering the following questions:
Q1. What are the key strategies for managing a project team
Q2. What are the important attributes of leadership that a project manager needs to
demonstrate to lead a project successfully?
Q3. From your selected industry projects research provide an overview of a successful project
and a failed project

Length and layout of the presentation
The total presentation should be no more than 7 minutes.
