‘Mr. Fixit’ (Jeffrey Zients) has been appointed to oversee a ‘tech surge’ to turn this troubled initiative around. Suppose you are on Mr. Zients’ team and on Nov 1, 2013 you are assigned the task of conducting a risk assessment for this project. You need to take into consideration the risks that have been present since the beginning of the project as well as any new risks that may now need to be considered due to the project’s troubled past. Include the following documentation in your report to Mr. Zients.
A. Risk Assessment Plan: Follow the template provided in D2L.
B. Assumptions: Include any key assumptions on issues that are not directly answered in the case, but that would impact your risk analysis.
C. Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS): Customize the RBS provided.
D. Risk List: First brainstorm a list of every risk you can think of for the case. Then, identify at least 10 of the most relevant risks to include on the Risk List document. Include both threat and opportunity risks.
E. Risk Register Information Sheets (Risk Register): Select three of the risk events listed from your risk list and complete a Risk Register Information Sheet for each of the risks (you will have 3 Risk Registers Information Sheets). At least one of these risks should be an opportunity. The Risk Register Information Sheet includes appropriately formatted risk statements, qualitative analysis, and risk responses. Remember, the risk strategies for the risk responses include avoid, mitigate, transfer, exploit, enhance, share, or accept.
