Decision Support System – Make Profitable Decisions     3
Introduction:
We have heard about the Decision Support System, it is a system which uses the combination of the human mind and the modelling systems in order to get the optimal system for making an informed decision. It is a information system which computerised and is used in supporting the process of decision making in the business environment. The DSS system lets the users focus and go through the intense amounts of data and analyse it to solve complex problems and derive solutions. The benefits of DSS are intensive and helps in making more informed and quality decisions, helps in solving the problem to a new scale with improved efficiency. (Bonczek, R.H., Holsapple, C.W. and Whinston, A.B., 2014)
Discussion:
A DSS is a software which is used on already collected data in order to produce efficient outputs and create insights from the data.
What Can DSS Analyse? : A DSS has applications which are in the top and the middle layer of the organisation. It helps in analysing large amounts of data on the upper level of the hierarchy. A DSS system is used to process a company’s revenue in the next financial year based on the forecast of the sales. Since a large number of variables are present, it is a complicated calculation and cannot be performed by hand. (Tu
an, E., Sharda, R. and Delen, D., 2011)
How Can DSS Present the Information? : A DSS can be manually programmed to the level to which the reports are required. It is useful in a way that it can explain the analysis in a very easy and understandable way. A DSS can generate outputs in a form of graph such as a bar chart or a graphical chart which represents the revenue and profit explicitly.
Usage Of DSS? : Data analysis is not limited to the mainframe structure. A light in weight and usage application, DSS can be installed on computers with ease. Since it is light in size, it becomes efficient and comfortable for the clients who wish to ca
y the software. A mobile integration has also been done for the applications of DSS. There are a number of ways in which DSS can be used to gather insights and get the analysis.
Some of the uses of DSS in industry are:
· DSS system can be used in a large stock of inventory...
