Introduction
In this paper, the major focus is shed upon whether or not the jail record of an applicant should contribute to an employer's first impression. In the present times, the job has become a basic necessity of a people for their survival and the employers are also channelizing the talent that would contribute to their success collectively. Though employment is the right of every individual and the employer too have the right to have a thorough check of an employee but decreasing the right of someone without confronting their side would be complete injustice. The main point here is both the employees, and the employer would be given the privilege.
Discussion
As discussed by Darsey Nunn in his article Ban the Box keep Families and Communities together that removing this past jail record of the applicants from their screening process would aid in strengthening the bond within the community (The New York Times). Though some of his argument is exact as American criminal justice is fraught with racism as the black men are detained, a
ested, and convicted most of the time without any fault in such case depriving them of their employment rights because the jail record check would be a completely unfair thing.
Considering the viewpoint of Juanita Duggan, the ban the box movement that illustrates that the criminal and jail record of the employees would not be the base of their rejection.
