Lab results show that our Aluminum spooled weld wire has an Aliphatic hrdrocarbon lubricant present. The lubricant is causing porosity (pin-holes) in our completed welds. Can the lubricant be remved by heating the spooled wire to some temperature? If so what temp and how long should it be held at the temperature? Is there another method for removal without removing the wire from the spool and cleaning (e.g. with denatured alcohol)?
