Health care delivery is no longer confined to the hospital setting. Over the past few years we have witnessed the emergence of outpatient surgery centers, home health, hospice, etc.

For this assignment, conduct additional research as needed to address the following questions:

What factors have led to care being offered outside of the hospital setting?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these settings? Who benefits the most: consumers or organizations?
How will the Affordable Care Act (ACA) impact this new trend? Will it encourage more alternative settings or put care back into the hospital setting? Explain.

There have been many changes in the trends and provision of healthcare services due to innovations in technology. Apart from that, there are new healthcare resources which make it possible to substitute the actual hospitals with that of new services similar to treatment of patients through different methods and processes. New settings are managed as the techniques of treating the patients are same but different staff is used for the provision of different conditions such as physiotherapeutic ways to treat body pains. The care organization follows different technologies but may be the level of advancements is not the same. Such facilities are started because of expensive healthcare facilities in hospitals which cannot be afforded by most of the patients. Although, due to lack of economies of scale, some of the hospital care services outside it are also damn expensive but still in majority cases, they are quite affordable. Another contributing factor is the dispersed population which makes it quite challenging for the hospitals to deliver these services for better future of the industry. Third major factor for the setting up of new services outside the hospitals is to raise the response of the patients to choose the services. In this way, a patient looking for particular health facility would have several options within his budget to take treatment. Moreover, facilities outside hospitals include the general practitioner services on telephone line services which are similar to that of the cooperative practitioners at hospitals.
