Resistance to the changes in project baseline:
Project baseline is the timeline or a secured schedule which is committed by the project managers to the client and both internal and external stakeholders also agreed on this timeline. It is basically a condition or the point of reference on the basis of which the future measurements of the project are made and therefore it is used as the standard for measuring the performance of a project. In the field of project management there are three main types of baselines existed– the schedule baseline which determines the timing and completion period of the project, the cost baseline which determines the money investment, profit and budget involved in the project and the scope baseline which determines the existing and future potential benefits of the projects. The amalgamation of all these three baselines is known as the performance measurement baseline. Project baseline should remain fixed and there should be a strong resistance to any changes in project baseline as any changes affects the performance of the project and the designed resource plan. Managers resist the changes in project baseline since baseline is a planned reference of the progress of the project and changes in baseline causes variations in the cost of the budget, scope of the project, and schedule of the completion of the project.
