WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING-1
Executive Summary
Postal services are like the core strengths of passing information from end to the other and they have been understood as the conventional channels of managing financial and social networks of any nation. The following analysis provides insightful views of the internship and placement experience and critical reflection of the business contexts that are pursued by Australia Post, the leading postal service delivery provider in Australia. The placement position in the company was to work for the logistics department as the delivery partner, the position of the driver and the job profile included timely accessing the delivery points for collection of the postal delivery objects. At the same time, the dispatching documents were handed over with a view to manage the overall postal delivery, when given to the collection points made across nation. The analysis also gives an overview of the business contexts through which, Australia post has evolved over the course of time and how the company has delivered successfully the postal services to the people of Australia, as per their economic and social needs. A formal examination of the leadership model in the context of logistics management of the company is also done with a view to note how the company has operated so far and has managed successfully its work related objectives. The business contexts are also set forth in the light of available opportunities for Australia Post such as merger and acquisition at international level to compete with international service providers like FedEx.

Introduction
Postal services in Australia have rapidly evolved over the course of past two decades. In fact, with the rise of digital services advanced at a
and new level, the postal services have been no longer deemed important and contribution based factors in managing social and economic needs and expectations of common people. However, the charm of postal service among common people remains unchanged and the statements about reckoning conventional postal services as ‘weak’ are futile to make. Australia Post is the chief ca
ier service of postal needs of people in this context. The company has been a part of Australian postal services for more than 200 years now; the first postmaster was appointed in 1809 and official postal services across all Australian colonies began taking shape in 1828. Since that time till now, a vast network of ca
ier services has been built within the post offices and postal delivery services across nation. Australia Post has successfully worked over various delivery services at national level and possibly, it is one of the largest networks in the world in terms of managing the supplication of postal services for people.
Additionally, the background of the company is evident in showing the efficacy of the postal services that it has managed so far. There are more than 30 thousand employees in Australia who work in various departments of the company such as completing the records for receiving the postal accounts, managing the dispatching options as well as ensuring the timely delivery. In the context of all postal services, the core strength of any organization remains centered around the logistics management; the efficiency of postal service provider is seen through the degree of timely delivery of the postal objects and it depends greatly over the type of logistics network that the company has built in order to manage the ca
ier of postal delivery across nation. Australia Post has worked remarkably in this context because more than two million postal services were satisfied in the last Christmas festival which is seen as the peak time for postal deliveries. At the same time, Australia Post has successfully sustained around 2.6 billion postal delivery addresses as a part of its core system which is quite challenging to manage on logistics level.
Moreover, in order to manage the logistics of the organization, the various collection and dispatching points have been structured as a part of supply chain network. There are more than 11 million collection points built across nation to conduct smooth postal delivery process and it makes Australia Post as the organization that has thrived to achieve perfection n its logistics management so far. As per the observation of the financial aspects of the company, it has more than 70 financial institutions based collaborations and the company has secured 376 million financial transactions over the past few years. This has made the appearance of Australia Post as the only organization in nation which is efficient in delivering quality postal services for more than a century now.
Theory and Practice
In the context of reflecting over the business contexts in which Australia Post has worked so far, it is important to understand the leadership models and trends that have been applied to the achievement of business objectives in the company. During my placement in the company as the service delivery executive, I could successfully scrutinise how the company has operated through various business norms and how it has evolved as per the changing needs of the existing customers. I have worked in the responsible logistics department of Australia Post...
