The study of personality traits over the years led to the discovery of the Five Factor Model that described principle traits of personality using psychological dimensions. This model developed by Robert McCrae and Paul Costa has been evaluated through many researches and proven to be highly accurate and reliable. These conclusions however, have been based principally on individuals belonging to the US. As researchers took the application of the FFM model beyond the US boundaries, they found that there was certain margin of disparity between the results from their studies on the five traits of FFM.
The five traits of FFM are Neuroticism, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Openness and Conscientiousness. The FFM traits are used as a basis for evaluating personalities by psychologists, surveyors as well as other studies addressing human behaviour.
