Two of the laws that have been attributed to him involve gasses. One discovered in 1809 states that the ratio between the combining volumes of gases and the product can be expressed in small whole numbers. The other law, discovered in 1802, states pressure is directly proportional to temperature of a fixed amount of gas at a constant volume. where: P/T=k P is the pressure of the gas. T is the temperature of the gas (measured in Kelvins). k is a constant.
