PURPOSE
The purpose of the reflective report is to provide a place and means for you to think about
your Industry Project work experience and you as an employee, in some depth. This will be
done in relation to you and your cu
ent work experience, but also in relation to the academic
theory you were exposed to during your formal studies.
TASK
You are required to write a reflective report that will:
ï‚· Show evidence of your critical thinking in examining aspects of the experience
ï‚· Give your evaluation regarding the application of theory in the practical environment
ï‚· Indicate strong evidence of your self-awareness of the issues affecting you as an
employee
ï‚§ refe
ing to your personal growth, areas for self-development and personal
achievements or failures
ï‚§ and how you dealt with these
ï‚· Synthesize the learning journey through the presentation of a coherent and accurate
eflection on the contribution made to workplace relationships/culture within the
internship organization and the significance of this for your future employment.
Throughout the semester, it is recommended that you keep some form of reflective journal or
notes that will assist you when writing your final reflective report. The reflective report
should cover the following requirements:
Reflective Report Requirements
Orientation (word count guideline – 500)
ï‚· Describe the process by which you were oriented to the organization (or if you are
already working within the organization, reflect on the cu
ent orientation process in
place for new staff members).
ï‚· How well did you feel you understood the organization and its operations including
procedures by the end of your first week of your Industry Project internship
experience? (Or if you are already working within the organization, reflect on how new
staff members may have adapted to the organization’s culture after their first week).
Situational Reflection (word count guideline – 750)
ï‚· Describe at least three situations which provided a learning experience over the whole
Industry Project journey.
Personal Growth (word count guideline – 750)
ï‚· While you are working, you will have many new experiences, and learn new
knowledge about the world of business and yourself.
ï‚· Recall and reflect on your experiences (at least three), and show the deeper learning
that has occu
ed for you.
Ensure that you reflect on the relationship between your whole working experience and
elevant theories, concepts or models from recent journal publications. Sources of
information should be co
