Task description:
· You will write an assignment which comprises a response to an essay question and the development of solutions
ecommendations relating to one of the topics you have completed in this course
· The topics you are able to choose from will be released to you in week 8
· As part of your preparation for this assessment, students are advised to engage with all of the modules and topics that are covered in this course
Please choose from one of the below essay question topics:
Option 1: Inequality exists within the Australian labour market. Choose one identity group (e.g. younger workers, older workers, migrants, LGBTIQ+ or workers with a disability) and provide the reasons for why and how inequality and disadvantage is experienced by your chosen group. Reflecting on the issues you wrote about your chosen group , in your own words (with academic literature to support), provide two or three solutions
ecommendations for how you might solve the major issues affecting this group in employment.
Option 2: With the growth of globalisation and the large proportion of the population worldwide who are participating in the gig economy, there are both benefits for and drawbacks from individuals participating in the this type of work. Choose one identity group (e.g. younger workers (18-34), students and unemployed, temporary and permanent workers, or workers with a disability) and provide the benefits and drawbacks experienced by your chosen group in the gig economy. Reflecting on the issues you wrote about your chosen group, in your own words (with academic literature to support), provide two or three solutions
ecommendations for how you might solve the major issues affecting this group in employment.
Option 3: Sustainable workplaces commit to the goal of balancing people, planet and profits to ensure long-term viability and success. They focus on adopting and implementing innovative practices that put the health and wellbeing of both workers and the planet first. Discuss two issues that impact employees' wellbeing in the workplace. Reflecting on the issues you wrote about, in your own words (with academic literature to support), provide two or three solutions
ecommendations for how you might ensure a sustainable workplace for both employers and employees.
Purpose:
· This assessment allows you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the topics and modules covered in this course
· Once you have completed this assessment you will need to add it to your ePortolio to display your academic skills. This assessment will serve as evidence of the work you are capable of producing and will demonstrate that you are able to integrate connections between scholarly ideas, concepts and theories and professional preparation by applying relevant tools, techniques and solutions to practical workplace problems
Total marks: 40%
Word count: 1,000 words (+/- 10%) i.e. (minimum of 900 words to a maximum of 1,100 words). Please note that the word count does include the in-text citations however does not include the reference list or title page

You assessment submission should follow the structure below. Please use these headings.
Title page:
· Indicate which of the three essay questions you have selected by copy and pasting the question here as your title
· Your name and student numbe
· Tutors name
· Workshop time and location
· Word count (excluding reference list and title page)
Introduction (approx 100 words)
· Introduce what you will be doing in this paper (
ief overview of focus of report - i.e. that you will be discussing this topic and providing recommendations/solutions to a workplace problem)
· Briefly justify the importance/significance of this paper (why it is important for organisations, employees, society, etc.)
Response to essay topic (approx 400 words):
· Here, you will need to draw on cu
ent research from a minimum of three scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles (published in the last three years). Students are encouraged to read and use many more so as to inform their knowledge on the topic
· In this section students, need to effectively demonstrate their knowledge of the topic and their ability to critically analyse the topic being investigated. This section goes beyond simple summary and description and requires an analytical approach to the problem/s or issue/s, indicating that you have understood the problem/s or issue/s and can make useful links between theory and practice. Be sure to introduce and define any key terms used in relation the group you are focusing on and the topic/issue/ideas/concepts
· Using evidence from the research (scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles) you have undertaken you will need to discuss things such as:
. What the problem actually is
. The size or scale of the problem
. The costs/issues associated with the problem
. Justify why is it a problem that needs to be addressed in relation to the future of work

Recommendations (approx 400 words):
· Reflecting on the issues you wrote about relating to your essay question, in your own words, provide two to three well-considered solutions
ecommendations for how you might solve the major issues you have raised in your response to topic
· To demonstrate your critical thinking skills, the recommendations or solutions should be theoretically relevant and practically viable and it should be clear how you have a
ived at these recommendations based on the research you have undertaken in your response to the essay topic (i.e. the recommendation should link effectively to the discussion you had in the previous section and should not appear random or unrelated)
· Each recommendation should also be accompanied with a justification of its importance or significance
Summary (approx 100 words):
· End the paper by
iefly summarising the key points raised in the pape
· The reader should be left with a
ief reminder of the issues raised, their importance and that you have raised viable recommendations
· Please note that no new ideas or literature should be added in the summary
Reference list:
· The report should be supported using in-text citations and a reference list containing a minimum of three contemporary academic peer-refereed journal articles (published within the last three years). If you wish to use articles that are older than this you may however this would be in addition to the minimum of three published since 2019. Three is a bare minimum and students are encouraged to read and use many more so as to inform their knowledge on the topic.
· Students should consistently apply either the APA or Harvard referencing system
· Please note that the reference list does not contribute towards the word count

Notes on structure, presentation, style and formatting
· Please note that the the title page and reference list are excluded from the word count. The focus is on quality over quantity. It is best to avoid repetition and be clear and concise in the points you are making.
· The structure of the paper should be clear and logical with links made and clarity of ideas
· Please ensure that you use the headings as provided above
· The paper should be written in third person.
· The paper should be free of grammatical and typographical e
ors.
· The paper should be setup with 12 point font, 1.5 line spacing, A4 paper size, with 2.5cm margins.
