How do you justify their failure to act?
Individuals may think that the observers are more capable to support. In a medical emergency, one may think that there might be a doctor on the spot and that the patient would be superior with the support of a doctor. Some people might be too self-conscious so that they do not want to send negative images to other bystanders. In order to avoid this, these people did not respond to the emergency at all. The fear associated with perception can also explain the bystander effect. Such concerns include being replaced by a senior aide or being discarded when providing help, or to contract with the official consequences of providing poor quality or worsening aid (Brown, 2015).
