Assessment Event 2- Scenario
Scenario
In your workplace, there have been an increasing number of situations over the last few months, where staff have acted in a discriminatory way towards each other and sometimes customers. Some staff have been commenting on the physical attributes of female colleagues, and at times undignified remarks are being made about customers who may not readily understand English. You have also noticed that the mature staff members are often left out of social occasions.
One of the major problems is that these issues have not come to your attention until well after the events have occu
ed. You realise that the lack of action is allowing harassment and bullying to escalate, as the victims are not aware that they can complain and the perpetrators think that they can get away with their behaviour.
This lack of action from management suggests that the harassing and bullying is acceptable behaviour. You have just received a complaint from a person with a disability, who says that their job application was rejected because they were in a wheelchair. Your office is on the ground floor with no steps. “
