Context: Self-awareness creates an opportunity for further development and personal success. This reflective analysis is designed for you to explore the subject’s introductory content and importantly, identify how it relates to your own experiences and how you may use it in the future Instructions: You are required to write a short reflective report covering the content in the first three weeks, that is, all of module one and the first half of module two.
More specifically:Module 1.1 - The nature of organisations, the role of management and challenges faced ï‚· Module 1.2 - Motivation, influence and power and politics and ï‚· Module 2.1 - Communication, conflict and negotiation In writing your reflective analysis, you should consider the learning resources provided in the respective modules as well as reading more broadly on the relevant topics. Think carefully about what you are reading and what has been discussed in class or in online discussions. Identify the key principles and concepts and be sure you know what they mean, why they are important and how they can be applied. Your reflective analysis write up may take a variety of forms but must be within the word limit and include: ï‚· A short introduction. ï‚· An analysis of the relevant module topics including their relevance to you and application. ï‚· A short conclusion. ï‚· Reference list. In reflecting upon the module topics, you should explore questions such as:1. What is in the content and why is this topic important? 2. How is the topic relevant to you? 3. What has been your past experience in this topical area? 4. What have you learnt from the content so far and how will you use it in the remainder of the subject or in your workplace? The word limit is short, so make use of tables, figures and diagrams as these are not included in your word count. You will be assessed against the learning rubric below and your level of insight and application of knowledge from Modules 1 and 2.1. Referencing: You must recognise all sources of information; including images that you can include in your work. Reference your work according to the APA 6th edition guidelines. Introduction
The practice of reflecting helps an individual think about their learnings, gain lessons from their past experiences and then learn from them, so that they can improve their professional performance for better in future. The cu
ent reflective analysis is an opportunity for me to analyse the introductory modules I read so far and develop myself for a more successful professional attribute. Here, I would reflect on module 1 and half of module 2 learnings.
Analysis of Relevant Module Topics, their Relevance to Me and Application
In the present subject— Management, People and Teams, as the name suggests, I have had the opportunities to learn the ways of managing the human resource, both from the individualistic as well as team perspectives. In Module 1.1, I was taught about the nature of various organisations and the role that management plays in them. As mentioned by Hislop, Bosua and Helms (2018), management is a basic framework to the proper functioning of organisations, because it guides the human resource in the direction of the organisational goal. However, this module is particularly important for understanding the possible issues that the management might face in guiding the employees, especially in hours of extreme workload or contingencies.
Hence, this module was of particular relevance to me because as I am seeking future employment as a manager in retail sector, I might have to learn to manage people at different levels or departments. However, as my past experience in practising managing teams, when studying this module, was a difficult one because I was unable to manage people from diverse culture-groups. As contradicted by Bolden (2016), multi-cultural team-members help to
