Introduction
Generally, self-reflection can be defined as the ability to appraise our own emotional, cognitive and behavioral processes. Self-reflection allows individuals to write their own thoughts, ideas and views about a specific topic. For case, it allows an individual to improve own skills, knowledge and abilities in any specific areas. Therefore, it play key role in enhancing the strengths and reducing the weaknesses (Coomber, Crainer, & Dearlove, 2002). Self-reflection is also important to learn new concepts and solve complex issues effectively. In the same way, in this reflective paper, I would try to explain my self-learning about the “The Career EDGE model of graduate employability”. This self-reflection report would also explain the concepts, principles, importance, role, application and elements of the model related to employability. Overall, in this reflective paper, I would explain and define what actually I have learnt about this particular model.
The Career EDGE Model of Graduate Employability
In the class room session, a number of new things, concepts, models and ideas related to career EDGE model are learnt by me that helped me to understand what actually this model is and how it is directly related to employability. For instance, before studying this model, I was not known and familiar about Career EDGE Model, my though were that this is a theoretical model used in area of education (Jiang et al., 2023). But, after studying this model, I came to know that, the CareerEDGE Model of Graduate Employability is a framework that provides a comprehensive approach to understanding the factors that contribute to successful career development for graduates. It is also acknowledged by me that, the model was developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) and is based on extensive research into the experiences of graduates and employers (Sulistiobudi & Kadiyono, 2023).
On the other hand, it is also gained by me that, this career model is more applicable and important for every individuals those are looking employment opportunities. Hence, this model is play key role in the career development and success of an individual. At the same time, it is also learned by me from this model that, in today's rapidly changing job market, it is essential for graduates to be equipped with the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to navigate a range of career opportunities and challenges (Lavinia Cornelia Butum & Nicolescu, 2019). Key Elements of the Career EDGE Model and their Applications
It is also acknowledged by me that, the model emphasizes the importance of self-efficacy, self-confidence, self-esteem, reflection and evaluation, career development learning, work and life experience, degree subject knowledge and skills, generic skills, and emotional intelligence. All these are the key elements of this model which play key role in the employability (Jiang et al., 2023).
Self-Efficacy and Self-Confidence: Self-efficacy refers to an individual belief in his or her ability to complete a particular task. For instance, an individual may have a high level of self-efficacy in managing a team efficiently and effectively, using individuals to their strengths to ensure the results/targets are achieved. On the other hand, self-confidence is a feeling of trust in your abilities, qualities, and judgment. For example, an individual may be confident in his/her ability to teach, which is supported by positive feedback from peers and students (Lavinia Cornelia Butum & Nicolescu, 2019). These are critical components of career development, as they help individuals to believe in their ability to succeed in their chosen career paths. For case, a recent graduate who has high self-efficacy and self-confidence might feel confident in their ability to land a job in their desired field, and feel comfortable advocating for themselves during the interview process By developing a strong sense of self-efficacy and self-confidence, individuals are better able to take on challenges and pursue their goals with greater determination and resilience. Moreover, graduates who have a strong sense of self-efficacy and self-confidence are more likely to take on challenges, pursue their goals with determination, and succeed in their chosen career paths (Wujema et al., 2022).
Recommendation to Improve Self-Efficacy and Self-Confidence: It is also learned by me that, an individual can improve his or her self-efficacy and self-confidence by considering the following practices and strategies such as:
· Identify strengths and accomplishments.
· Use positive self-talk to encourage himself.
· Set achievable goals and objectives
· Believe in himself (Sulistiobudi & Kadiyono, 2023).
· Take on challenges that will help build new skills and develop self-confidence
