Kitchen Renovation
Project introduction
Background
Kitchen being heart of a house needs to be well manages and well equipped with all requirements. It increases the sale value of property too. To renovate a house, firstly the kitchen needs to be done else the family can’t stay in the same house during the whole process of renovation.
Kitchen renovation is required in the specified location because of its existing old infrastructure. The cu
ent kitchen does not accommodate any bar table or chairs which are required by the family if 5 now. Also, there are no equipments and appliances as per need of family. Space is less but the requirements to add things is little more which cannot be done in present infrastructure and setup. Thus, there is need to renovate kitchen based on modern yet contemporary model that will help to get all desired amenities in the given small space of 150 square feet.
Project objective
Objectives associated with this project includes-
· Cleaning up of existing infrastructure including interiors and cupboards etc.
· Installation of new infrastructure in given kitchen area of 150 square feet.
· Renovated new kitchen handing over process to the customer.
Project scope
Scope of this kitchen renovation project includes following-
· Demolition of existing infrastructure and cleaning up of mess.
· Installation of new infrastructure and interior.
· Handing over of all new renovated kitchen to client
· Budget scope of project is confined to $25000
· Time deadline to completely handing over the project is October 1, 2020.
Project duration
The whole project from planning to designing followed by demolition and installation to handing over is to be done within timeframe of three months as this is a short term project. This project is to be completed from July to October, 2020.
Starting of project- 1st July, 2020
Ending of Project- 1st October, 2020
Most likely and worst duration is perceived and analyzed for the project activities which is as follows-

Required resources
A major required resource associated with the project is funding and approval from the owner of house who is also sponsor for the project. Also, there is need to understand the taste and preferences of the family members. Other required resources includes project management team, general contractor including various sub contractor, interior designer, appliances, equipments required, other furniture and construction requirements etc. Apart from these, feedback from the client on timely basis also acts as a resource to conduct and complete the activities as expected by the client.
Perceived Costs
Based on the cu
ent market prices of all required resources, it is perceived that the main cost that will cover major project budget will be towards furniture, interiors and the equipments to be used and installed in the renovated modern kitchen. Other cost includes contractor cost, interior designer cost along with project management team cost. Demolition and installation as well as cleaning up cost will also constitute part of cost incu
ed.
Boundaries of project
Inclusion and exclusion of project- Project boundaries includes several steps of the process which is to make plan, to design the project and interiors required, ca
ying out the process of demolition, constructing the new infrastructure and interiors. Testing and commission is done followed by clean up and finally handed over to customer.
Project also does have some exclusion, major one is post delivery maintenance of the project handed over.
Project constraints
From the beginning to handover, project is under the project management team. The only constraints of the project are towards the timeline and budget. Also once the handover is done, project management team does not hold any liability towards maintenance of the renovated kitchen. Main constraints are as follows-
· Fixed budget of $25000.
· Time constraint of 3 months.
· Quality constraint and maintenance post handing over.
Perceived Risks
During kitchen renovation in a house, the challenges that are generally encountered are as follows-
· Taste and preference variations among the family members.
· Interior design as per demand.
· Equipment and installation compliance as per requirements.
· Quality outcome at the end of project.
Perceived risks based on the project include financial risk, on site operational risk, time frame risk and risk associated with taste and preference of clients. Financial risk is one of major risk as over budgeting may hamper the satisfaction level of client. Time frame risk may occur due to operational issues and improper management. To mitigate these risks, record keeping system along with time scheduling must be done.
Record keeping system
Keeping a track record of all the activities along with the timelines, progress of activity and its completion deadline helps to mitigate risks and achieve deliverables as and when desired. Record keeping system must be maintained throughout the project process so as to achieve all milestones and deliver a successful project.
