BSBITU306 Design and produce business documents
Instructions:
You are working in a marketing department of Happy Feet – Walking Tours company. You are responsible for producing marketing and advertisement materials, run marketing campaigns and everything related to marketing and promotion of the company.
Task 1
At the last month management meeting the directors of the company decided that the company needs a new ‘fresh’ look.
The company’s letterhead is outdated and very simple in design (please refer to Appendix A). The leaflet template was designed more than 10 years ago and features very simple unappealing design (please refer to Appendix B). Furthermore, the address on both documents is an old address, so the information on the letterhead must be updated. New address is: 108 Bourke Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000.
Your manager has asked you to re-design the two documents (letterhead and leaflet). You are also required to update the new leaflet template with the information about 2 new walking tours the company is introducing (please refer to Appendix C).
You need to meet following design rules set by the management:
Letterhead
Modern design
Appealing and attractive layout
Full colou
Leaflet
Modern design
Appealing and attractive layout
Use vi
ant colours
Use various visual elements like images, logo line art etc.
Leaflet template should be designed in one and two-sided version
For both documents you must ensure that:
Uniform fonts are used across the document
Uniform style is applied across each document
The logo is scaled appropriately
The images and graphics are in appropriate resolution
The colours are consistent across the two documents
Task 2
In the previous part you have designed the business documents as requested by the management. You should address all the requirements in the design process. Write a short report outlining each element and what was your approach during the design process to address it.
For example:
Uniform fonts are used across the document – In my design I have used Arial font across both documents. They are used in 3 different sizes 11px for standard text, 14px for heading and 8px for foot notes.
You have two weeks to prepare and complete the Task 1 and Task 2. You must export the completed letterhead and leaflet template as PDF document (see below) and upload them together with the original editable file via student portal to your trainer in one zipped file under the name ‘BSBITU306’.
The final document must be produced in two different versions:
Optimised for electronic distribution (Reduced size)
Optimised for printing (High resolution)
If you are unsure about any task:
Discuss and clarify format and style with the manager requesting the documents (represented by your trainer)
Use manuals, training booklets and/or help-desks to overcome basic difficulties with document design and production
Research internet to obtain information on how to update documents
Your trainer will assess your cu
ent skills and abilities to:
Select and prepare resources
Select and use appropriate technology and software applications to produce required business documents
Select layout and style of publication according to information and organisational requirements
Ensure document design is consistent with company and/or client requirements, using basic design principles

Happy Feet - Walking tours melbourne
Appendix C
New Walking Tours Memo
Dear Team,
I would like to take this opportunity and draw your attention to our new Happy Feet – Walking Tours that we are introducing from the following week.
One of the new tours we have prepared for our customers is a Chocolate Indulgence Tour. It takes chocoholics on an amazing journey of discovering the sweet secrets of Melbourne. The price of the tour includes free tastings in 4 locations and basically, it is all they can eat deal. Duration of the tour is 4 hours and the price is $99. We are very excited about introducing this tour.
The second tour is for beer lovers. This tour does not offer the traditional beer tasting like VB, Carlton etc., but only the best locally produced boutique and craft beers. The customers will experience everything that these 3 micro
eweries have to offer including the unique quality and flavour of their beer and live music on site. Duration of this tour is 3 hours and the price is $99.
These new tours appear to be very promising and I am sure they will become very popular among both, domestic and overseas visitors.
Regards,
George
