Based on assumptions associated with motivation and human nature, there is a hierarchical pyramid. These assumptions were termed Theory X. it was considered that generally people are not willing to assume responsibility and they don’t value safety. Instead they want to be directed. Also, assumption of this theory is that it is financial force that motivates people along with punishment threat. Managers em
acing theory X tends to
ing supervision and control over their employees because as per them there is need of external control to deal with such i
esponsible people.
Focus of Theory Y on the other hand was on creating a work environment that is pleasant as well as there is alignment of individual and organizational goals. As people feel glad to come to work and perform well, these organizations tend to have high level of productivity. People are not considered unreliable and lazy under this theory instead it assumes people to be very creative and self directed if their motivation is done well.
