Background
Tigers, a name given to the Richmond football club players are a team which is playing in Australian football league known as the sports premier competition. Established in the year 1885 in Melbourne, the team formed under this club had won two premier leagues in first two decades of its inception. After the first two wins, it joined the Victorian football league (that is now known as AFL) in the year 1908 which gave them eleven victories in their account. Tigers wear black and yellow uniform keeping a match with their names. The team coach is Damien Hardwick and plays under the captainship of Trent Cotchin. A few players from the club are termed as the legends of the game and have been positioned into the hall of fame of Australian football. They are Kevin Bartlett, Kevin Sheedy, jack dyer, Ian Stewart, and Royce Hart.
Tom wills ( a founder member of Australian Rules football) created a football club in the year 1860 namely Richmond (Halabi 2016). This club had a short life and Tom Will became its secretary. His cousin Ha
ison became the captain of the club until he moved to other club named Geelong. That club has no association with the present team. Uptill early 1870’s the team used to play with the junior members at the small level, but on Fe
uary 20, 1885, in an official ceremony Richmond Football club was formed in a royal hotel in Richmond. The club chose yellow and black colors as its official one.
The team was given the names ‘Rich mondites’, ‘wasps’ and the most famous is “tigers’.
At the beginning of its formation, Richmond had to struggle in lieu of making an impression in the Victorian Football Association. As and when the economy of Australia went into the depression in the early years of 1890, the crowd started falling. To come over this decline, some of the best clubs of Victorian football association came together to reform the competition, and the sad part was that Richmond was not the part of this reunion (McCaskie, 2018).
This was actually a bad phase for the Richmond as they finished up having a wooden spoon in their hands after each match. Even when a fraction of clubs
oke out from the association and began forming the Victorian Football League, Richmond was not invited in this new association as it was a struggling club who had a poor fan following. Until 1900, the performance of the tigers was not found to be remarkable, but with the beginning of the new century, George “Malley” Johnson, who was a player of the club, became a true sensation. The team reached the third position in the league (Gastin, 2017). One in the early stages of team development, tigers protested against the umpireship of Allen and thought of not playing in future under his umpireship which leads to an open odd situation for them. Their behavior was called violent with poor sportsmanship spirit.  Richmond had a clue that they were an asset for VFA. They gained their position by clu
ing with some teams of VFA and playing some practice matches with them (McNally, 2015). They remain the champions for a long period of five years. In the year 1905, Richmond announced the other premiership which was well...
