Key Premise and Supporting Points of the Article
The main premise of the article illustrates a dissatisfactory environment in the workplace that created a drift between the employees and their leaders. As mentioned by Kantor and Streitfeld (2015), in Amazon, the leaders give their employees some unreasonable and unachievable targets, which are only the reflection of the high ambitions of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Jeff Bezos. Hence, in such a work culture, the problems of the employees are completely overlooked.
The supporting points, which have been presented in the article to prove this issue, have shown that when employees have met with some medical emergencies, mishaps or terminal diseases, they are not given the time to recover. Instead they are rated poor and unbiasedly, consequence of which is their termination from the service through a process known as “purposeful Darwinism”. As stated by Hartnell et al. (2016), such an organization can never be successful for a prolonged period in the coming years, because the increasing dissatisfaction and unresolved grudges of the employees would certainly lead to mass resignation or poor performance in the company, thus,
inging about its downfall.
