The story that Shawn Achor started out with about his sister getting injured was a great first example of how positive thinking can make you happier. He clearly knew his younger sister loved unicorns, so by telling her she must be one she automatically thought she was okay and wanted to continue playing. I have started to see more and more people approaching crying children with a calm manner, saying “it’s okay” or “you’re fine” instead of rushing to them and freaking out. The first time I saw it happen I was scared, but quickly realized it helped to calm the child down, instead of making them worse.
I do believe positive thinking can make you overall happier, but I don’t think it is a quick change where you wake up one morning and everything is different. Achor uses a good example of saying people assume our outside world predicts how happy we are, but that is not true. He can know everything about your external world but only predict ten percent of your happiness. Ninety percent of your long-term happiness is based on how your brain processes the external world around you. He also goes on to use scientific facts to further back up his statement saying how when you’re thinking positively, dopamine floods your system, making you happier and helps turn on learning centers in your brain. This goes to show that thinking positively can in fact make you happier. Thinking about times I have wanted to succeed at work or in school, I can relate to what he says about how the system is set up for us to feel happy once we reach that goal. But everyone should try to switch their way of thinking, be positive while you are trying to achieve your goals instead of being stressed or worried. We all might be able to see how much better our mindset becomes if we work on this day by day.

Shawn Achor, provided several facts in the Ted talk “The happy secret to work”. Proposed a valid concept, that if you begin with a positive attitude. That it would in turn give all the hopes that you have as well as make you remain happy or happier. This concept is well evaluated and have merit. Although, the idea is not steadfast as it does not result in the desired effects on a consistent level.
Another aspect to approach when think of the question “Do you believe positive thinking makes you happier?”. The truth is that you can simply look into yourself. Meaning, we all are made of energy. Everything is made of vibrations. The law of nature says that everything has a vibration. Everything human or not are made up of atoms., Atoms are always in constant movement. Depending on their speed objects appear as a solid liquid or gas. (Ignatius, 2017)
Your thoughts as well as sound are vibrations. You manifest everything in your life by your thoughts. Therefore, controlling your mood, temperament, or the events that you manifest. When you are controlling your vibration, it releases endorphins That gives you a feeling of euphoria. Hence controlling your overall happiness. Manifesting, law of attraction, vibrations, and frequency are all linked to higher universal power or power source. (Ignatius, 2017)
We all in essence have personal energy. Have you ever seen this diagram and wondered what it meant? This diagram depicts the energy that your heart gives of on a constant basis. It is said that the energy field around a human body is 3 feet in diameter. Proving that we are all energy.
Simple science explains it all.
1. Cell
2. Atom
3. Protons, Electrons, Neutrons, and Quartz
Again, we are all energy.
The affect of our emotions has over our lives. This power affects the chemical balance of our bodies as we release different chemicals according to our mood. Bad mood bad chemicals. Hence, bad energy or vibration. Good energy works the complete opposite. Making you feel better physically and mentally. This helps in creativity, happiness, health, memory, and your overall personal energy, which all characteristics mentioned translates into the growth of your life and career.
Yes, in my opinion positive thinking makes you happier.
