Civic Centre should be planned in such a way that its layout and orientation are in line with minimum
uses of natural resources and thus it can be an example of sustainable and green project to the
community in the form of a Land mark.
It should fit all the requirements of its intended use in line with all comfort factors such as natural light,
water both drinkable and useable, electricity with minimum uses, locality, etc.
One good planner or architect and a civil engineer should be employed to achieve all the purpose of its
intended use with comfort level. The Planner should plan the civic centre in such a way that it will use
serve the purpose of its intended use with minimum uses of natural resources with due consideration to
comfort level of su
ounding locality.
And the civil engineer should consider all safety while designing the civic centre using eco friendly
materials as much as possible so that it will not affect the environmental balance.
P2/P3
Now to achieve safety of building and structures one should design structures with regard to the
guideline set by the nation or any standard code of practice. The engineer should consider all the
possible loads that may a
ive with regard to that code of practice.
A structure may consist dead load due to self weight of its own material such as for concrete the self
weight is 25 kN/m^3 and for steel its around 7.85 T/m^3. Dead load may also come due to any fixed
instrument or element on any structural element of the whole structure.
Loads can be imposed load or live loads and these loads may or may not come and is a function of time.
For different structure the value of live load on floor may be different. For residential buildings this value
is less but in case of public building or industrial building this value is more.
Imposed load may be in form of wind load, snow load, dust load or seismic loads and all are to be
computed as per the standard codal provision.
All the load can be point load , distributed load, concu
ent, non co –cu
ent, uniformly varying load etc.
Depending upon the type of matter and surface area which is supporting the load or how the load is
eing transfe
ed to other element of structure.
Now after accessing all possible loads on a structure it should be analyzed. This analysis is consist of
calculation of forces in different structural elements which are a
anged to...
