anes-Oxley Act of 2002. Enron and WorldCom are just two examples of recent financial scandals that have influenced the creation of this regulation. This regulation was created with the intention of creating tight rules for all publicly traded US firms. This act incorporates the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), which are tasked with supervising, regulating, inspecting, and establishing disciplinary guidelines for accounting firms with regard to their specific roles as public company auditors.
