Navigate around the website to learn about Victims’ rights around the country. Imagine that the fictional state of Bazalia is considering an amendment to its state constitution concerning victim’s rights as follows:
“Victims of violent crime, or if such victim is deceased, such victim’s immediate family member, shall have the right of final approval for any plea offer tendered to a defendant when made by a prosecutor who is directly responsible for the criminal prosecution of the matter in which the victim is named. No plea offer shall be tendered absent approval by such victim, or victim’s immediate family, when proper notice has been accomplished.”
In a 2 page (minimum) paper, outline your arguments both FOR and AGAINST this amendment. As you construct your argument, you may choose consider current Victims Bill of Rights legislation around the country.
