Introduction
Maintenance operations are key for smooth operation of the organization. Since continuous product is key for profit making and it is essential for making revenues, it is very much necessary to have a set of portfolios to make right maintenance operations and maintenance management processes in the organization. The following part of the report is all about the maintenance processes witnessed practically in the organization and inferences from the same are used to answer the respective activity exercises. Some of the activities included discussion on the type of the maintenance operations used in the organization, the types of the vi
ation measurement processes used in the organization, preparation of the causal charts for the sake of root cause analysis procedures, co
ective actions to be employed for the sake maintenance problems etc. Most of these activities are case dependent and diversities do exist, however the basic principles of the same are discussed in detail in the following reports.
Activity 1.1
As part of the cu
ent programme, a visit is made to one of the process plants working for the manufacturing of the Galvanized tiles in making bathrooms and toilets.
There are several significant and critical parts of the organization requiring continuous maintenance management in the organization. Some of the key parts that are needing continuous attention include ball mill bearings, the hydraulic press and its hydraulic units, the conveyor belts used for the transmission of the tiles and the VSD motors used to drive the belts, the tile quality measuring devices like sortex quality control devices for their performance. Also there are huge silos operated by vacuum control and vacuum pipes need to be continuously monitored for their performance. There are large capacity (heavy duty) generators in the organization for about 17MW capacity, which supplies power for the entire production plant as well as the accessories in the premises. The plant is operated by diesel engine. The entire power plant is maintenance managed from time to time. In this regard, the following part of the report discusses about the maintenance management process employed for all these processes. The key maintenance programme employed for the program is of three types the trouble shooting as and when arises, the preventive maintenance programme used based on scheduled maintenance needs of the equipment and thirdly there is condition monitoring based maintenance management process.
