Description: Each week students were provided with three tutorial questions of varying degrees of
difficulty. These tutorial questions are available in the Tutorial Folder for each week on Blackboard.
The Interactive Tutorials are designed to assist students with the process, skills and knowledge to
answer the provided tutorial questions. Your task is to answer a selection of tutorial questions for
weeks 7 to 11 inclusive and submit these answers in a single document.

The questions to be answered are;

The assignment has to be submitted via Blackboard. Each student will be permitted one
submission to Blackboard only. Each student needs to ensure that the document submitted
is the co
ect one.

Academic Integrity
Academic honesty is highly valued at Holmes Institute. Students must always submit work
that represents their original words or ideas. If any words or ideas used in a class posting or
assignment submission do not represent the student’s original words or ideas, the student
must cite all relevant sources and make clear the extent to which such sources were used.
Written assignments that include material similar to course reading materials or other
sources should include a citation including source, author, and page number.
In addition, written assignments that are similar or identical to those of another student in
the class is also a violation of the Holmes Institute’s Academic Conduct and Integrity Policy.
The consequence for a violation of this policy can incur a range of penalties varying from a
50% penalty through to suspension of enrolment. The penalty would be dependent on the
extent of academic misconduct and the student’s history of academic misconduct issues.
All assessments will be automatically submitted to SelfAssign to assess their originality.

hospital.
a. Provide a 95% confidence interval for all the patients who are refe

the hospital. (5 marks)
Answer:- Sample size,  n=400
Sample proportion, ^p=(80/400)
^p=0.2
a) The 95% confidence interval for the population mean is defined as

C.I = 0.21.96
=(0.1608,0.239)
The 95% confidence interval for all the patients who are refe
ed to the hearth center by the hospital is (0.608, 0.239).
) What sample size would be required to estimate the proportion of all hospital refe
als to the
health centre with a margin of e

Margin of e
or, ME=0.04
The margin of e
or is defined as:

ME = 1.96

= 19.6
n = 19.6^2
n = 384.16

The average starting salary of students who graduated from colleges of Business in 2009 was $48,400.

deviation of the population is known to be $8000. We want to determine whether or not there has
een a significant increase in the starting salaries.
Answer:-
Data give and notation
represent the sample mean
represent the standard deviation for the population
sample size
represent the value that we want to test
represent the significance level for the hypothesis test.
 Z would represent the statistic (variable of interest)
Step 1. Statement of the hypothesis
a. Null hypothesis:-
Alternative hypothesis:
Step 2. Standardised test statistic formula

Step 3. State the level of significance
And the value of a that satisfy this is a=1.64. So our critical region is
Step 4. Decision Rule (Draw a bell to show rejection zone)
For this case since our calculated value is higher than the critical value we have enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis at 5% of significance.
Since is a one right tailed test the p value would be:
If we compare the p value and a significance level assumed we see that so we can conclude that we can reject the null hypothesis, and the actual true mean for the salary is significantly higher from 48400.
