Summary and Justification for Choosing them
Every industry is going through some or the other changes but there are few changes, which surprise the people, and such is the change cu
ently taking place in the health care industry. As mentioned in the paper by Gray (2017), people demanded for value-based care and eventually the industry is responding to their demands. The health care system is shifting from Volume-based to Value-based care. Under the volume-based health care, the health care providers were more concerned on the number of health cares provided rather than the quality of their services and treatments. As per the opinions of Anwar et al. (2017), the inefficiency in the health care services caused a huge impact on the health care industry. All the incentives were motivating the health care providers to wo
y about the numbers of patients they treated rather than the value provided. This increased their focus on the speed of their work, which adversely affected the health care qualities. As per Hillary et al. (2016), on the other hand, the value-based health care service is completely focused on the quality of the services and the benefits of the patients are prioritized first. The payments of the health care service providers depend on the success rate of the medical treatments under them. It is known as accountable care. Payments and incentives are totally based on the service quality and specialized cares provided to the patients, reducing the excess cost and wastage of time and investments. As noted by Nelson and Staggers (2016), this process not only would ensure that the health care service providers focus on the patients and their needs, but also would make sure that the payments and incentives of the health care service providers are on the basis of the success of the treatment and the quality by evaluations of the satisfaction level of the patients. The website Health Informatics (2019) has been chosen because it shows that the innovative technique of value based healthcare would not only save the money and the time of the patients, but also ensure a healthy life to the patients avoiding major diseases by treatments provided in the early stages itself (Health Informatics, 2019).
Without any doubt, even the people wanted a change in the health care system from bottom to top and demanded quality as the awareness about the health among them are increasing rapidly. The facilities like internet, natural care, self-diagnostic and other alternative cares are increasing very rapidly in the market of the health care industry and are serious challenges against the health care system (Catalyst, 2019). Hence, this source is useful. This new technique of health care service is expected to have a great impact in the health industry. Under this new system, the health care service providers are more concerned in providing quality service than providing a greater number of services. Due to the large number of treatments done by the same health care service providers for earning extra incentives, ruined the completely health care system as the requirements of the patients were not properly met and the needs of them were not heard. In the past, they were not concerned about the major problem that could arise due to negligence in the treatments done in the future. However, time has changed, so has the innovation in the health sector.
Task 2: Essay on Impact of Value Based Healthcare on Service Users
Introduction
The health care delivery model where service providers such as hospitals and physicians are receiving payments based on the health outcomes of the patients. The healthcare service providers receive rewards for contribution in reduction of effects and cases of chronic diseases, improved health of the patients and providing healthier lives, which are considered as evidence under value-based care agreements. As mentioned by Ka
ach et al. (2018), there are two types of value-based care – fee for service and capitated approach. Under capitated approach, the health care providers received their payments on the numbers of health care services they deliver. On the other hand, under the fee for service approach, the health care providers receive payments on the measure of health outcomes against cost of delivering the outcomes.
Value-Based Health Care Models
The value-based health care models are introduced for changing the way of providing health care of the health care service providers. Along with that, the value-based health care service is considered to be promoting the inefficient and uncoordinated delivery of health care, which more often fails to meet the requirements of the patients. As noted by van Deen et al. (2017), many efforts have been made to improve the system, but it is only increasing more and more burden on the health care service providers such as physicians and hospital the administration after analysis and evaluating the situation have understood that these regulations were proving to be a burden, resulting in inefficient health care service.
As noted by Leyton-Mange et al. (2018), to provide a truly patient-centred and value-based health care system, they need to amend the policies and system which are the main reasons of increasing cost of treatments and quality of the health care been provided by the health care service providers....
