Brief: You must deliver an reflective report in the form of an illustrated essay presentation.
Title: “The Landscape of Production Companies and Filmmaking in the UK”
Give a sub-title to your essay, depending on what areas of the landscape you choose to explore.
Length 1500 Words.
This essay must describe an aspect, or aspects of the cu
ent economic, political and business landscape of the film and/or TV industries in the UK. It must introduce critical dissection of what drives production and what pressures are put on the production industry by economic, political or other means.
Draw out arguments and explore both sides of the equation before drawing conclusions about what the aspects you have discussed mean for the future of production in film and TV in the UK.
Political and economic pressures might include such things such as
● Government strategy for the creative industries
● Brexit
● Austerity measures affecting the workforce
● Global up or downturns on advertising spending
Pick a sub-title from the options below or come up with your own, but this must be approved by a course tutor.
1. What are the potential benefits or pitfalls of Brexit on TV and/or Film production in the UK?
2. What would the effects of taking Channel 4 into private ownership be on the Broadcast Industry landscape of the UK?
3. How has government strategy for the creative industries affected film production in the UK in the last decade?
4. What factors have underpinned the economic basis for the growth of high-end TV drama in the UK and what are the implications for the future?
5. Why is the issue of diversity in UK film and TV (both offscreen and onscreen) so important and what are the arguments for diversity in industry?
These examples are not exhaustive and it is better to dissect one area in depth than try to cover everything
Your report should be CRITICAL. In this case, critical does NOT mean negative, but means "expressing or involving an analysis of the merits and faults of a work"

Title: “The Landscape of Production Companies and Filmmaking in the UK”
Sub-title: What are the potential benefits or pitfalls of Brexit on TV and/or Film production in the UK?
Reference: Harvard; Words: 1200
The word “Brexit” means “British exit” where dissociation among Great Britain and European Union. This vote occu
ed in June 23, 2016 and the result was 51,9% vote was in favour of the survey (Gray, 2014,). England and Wales voted for leaving, but Scotland and Northern Ireland prefe
ed to stay with the EU. Moreover, at the end of March in the year 2018 and the negotiation processes occu
ed in relation to the separation only after the year 2019 there will be proper documented separation. The result of the
exit and its vote had immediate effects on the economy as a whole. The cu
ency collapsed, which was only 10% above the Euro. Inflation increased by 1.8% in same year after the Brexit in 2016, in the United Kingdom. UK was in the adverse position as the foreign trade declined.
There was more than 51% voting in favour of United Kingdom parting from the European Union in the Brexit Policy. Commercial and legal uncertainties were faced in the Landscape of Production Companies and Filmmaking in UK (Witt, 2012 ). In the Brexit Policy where Britain exists from the European Union and there was numerous possibilities which came for as scope for TV and/or Film production in the UK. The vote for the leaving the EU depends on the domestic issues in the legal terms. There will be permission of free trade and other activities similar within the EU which controls the member of EU trading with any other country.
The potential benefits which came into forefront after the Brexit in The Landscape of Production Companies and Filmmaking in the UK can be described one by one. The first benefit is that UK will be permitted to access the single market when joining in European Economic Area but UK has to follow most of the European Laws. The second benefit is joining the European Free Trade Association which provides limited access to the single market and lesser European rules will be accepted (Edwards, 2011). The third benefit is undergoing trade deal with the European Union where limited negotiation is required for access to single market and legal rules.
