Essay Prompt:

• In this essay, you will choose an artistic work, analyze its artistic qualities and form and evaluate it as a work of art. You are free to choose any form of art that we have learned about in the course: painting, sculpture, music, photography or television. Your chosen work may be found within our course textbook, on the web or in real life.
• Begin by describing your chosen work.
o Why did you choose this particular work?
o How would you describe the content?
o What appeals to you about it?
• Next, describe the formal artistic qualities of your chosen work.
o You are encouraged to review the chapters in the course text that correspond to the artwork you’ve chosen for a refresher on formal artistic qualities.
• Finally, craft an analytical argument in which you evaluate your chosen work as a work of art. You may wish to review Chapters 1, 2 and 14 to help you craft your analysis.
o What makes your chosen work a work of art?
o What are the lasting impressions of your chosen work?
o How does your chosen artwork engage with the world and add value or meaning?

The definition of art defined as an application of human creativity and skills. Eventually, there is no way to categorize art, as it is a subjective in nature. The definition varies from person to person or artist to artist. For one set of group, it can be collective emotion and thoughts combine together in order to develop a piece of entertainment, so that other can enjoy and think about it. Every piece of art differs from person to person, they eventually do not understand the same way, in which artist wants to show them.
Music is art. As stated by Martin and Jacobus (2014), art does not just have to be a painting or a drawing; it can be heard as well. People listen to music for different reasons and it serves different purposes. Some of it is background music and some of it is things that might affect a person's day, if not their life, or change an attitude. The best songs are the ones that make us feel something.
I chose music for this essay as Music combines imagination, knowledge and inspiration. The medium used is sound and silence. It also integrates pitch, rhythm, tim
e, dynamics and texture. Not everyone can write a beautiful piece of music. A talented musician can write a music masterpiece using all the elements in a way that elevates emotion and produces beauty. Some of the famous musicians stand the test of time much like an artist who mixes and shapes his medium, presenting it in a way that moves the human soul.
For this essay, I chose Frederic Chopin’s music. He is a polish piano artist. People love Chopin because his music involves a lot of minors and sharps, which they happen to enjoy. They prefer ‘sad minor’ sounding music than ‘happy major’ sounding music and Chopin is perfect for this. Though not all of his music is in a minor key, people still appreciate it. His music is majestic and almost feels like a dream when you listen to it. His works are harmonically deep and melodically beautiful.
Many of his compositions are original in genre. As informed by Caruncho and Fernandez (2011), Chopin melts all pain, stress...
