In the golden words of John Dewey, “We do not learn from experience rather we learn from reflecting on the experience”. Indeed, self-reflection can enable one to recognize the progress one makes in life, whilst allowing one to consider enhancements one can make in the future. By the virtue of this assignment, I have got this opportunity to perform a critical analysis of myself along with an application of fundamental sociological concepts that are associated with ethnicity, race, immigration, and nationality. This is the most authentic form of action by the virtue of which I can showcase my love for exercise and life in general by implementing hip-hop dance. This interest has pulled me into the dance community that offers me, and many students like me to express our personalities as well as emotions. Dance especially hip-hop allows us to appreciate simple things in life and urges us to overcome challenges. I also faced denial, then in anticipation to find out I wasn’t accepted into my aspiration colleges. Dealing with rejection can be really difficult however it shouldn’t stop us (Yan, M. C., 2005). Something that keeps me moving ahead in life is the fact that if I keep trying, I have a chance to get selected one day.
