Introduction
Media ecology comprises of the ways in the environment is represented in the society that embodies the news in such a way that it involves the citizens of the area. In the present days, the use of media ecology is more for presenting the news in an attractive way in order to attract more viewership or readership and not for presenting the actual story to the world. Therefore, the current study focuses on redressing the distortion of perception of the world on global news by incorporating the civic media values into them. Hence, the civic media discussion of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will be considered in this context.
Identifying the Issues in the way of covering the Global News
The changes in the perception of the people have led to the expression of their point of views in a remarkably different way. However, in the field of civic media, the change of perception has been greatly influenced by the way the information has been presented to the world. Presently, as stated by de Zuniga et al. (2014), the civic media is making more use of the internet in sourcing its information, as well as in expressing the news media content. The reports by MIT has also presented a similar scenario, wherein the extensive use of internet for presenting news has been analyzed (BBC, 2018).
