Step 1:
· Watch the Netflix show "7 Days Out" (Links to an external site.), Episode 1 about the Westminster Dog Show. If you do not have Netflix, there is a free 30-day trial.
· As you watch, rather than primarily watching the foreground, pay attention to the background:
· What do you notice about the venue choices and set-ups?
· What do you notice about the AV components of the production?
· Other unique considerations for the parts of the event that are shown?
Step 2:
· Submit a two-page paper noting your observations and insights gained from watching the documentary about the event.
· Some of the topics to consider:
· What type of economic impact would an event like the Westminster Dog Show offer? What would make this particular event appealing for a city to host?
· How many different venues and what types are needed to pull off this event? Why all of the different venue types?
· A dog show is very different from a convention. From what you saw with the set-up and some of the event elements you saw backstage, what are some considerations needed that are very unique to this type of an event? (set-up needs, health, sanitation, security, etc.)
· What did you notice about this event that you never would have noticed prior to this class?
· What did you learn about events from watching this?
· In this paper, do not simply just give a recap of the documentary and re-telling what you saw. Provide insights and opinions about what you observed.
