The General Strain Theory is being examined here. This theory of criminology is developed by Robert Agnew. The theory states that the criminal activities are the exposure in the response of bad circumstances and negative behaviours. The theory depicts three types of strains, which can create and enhance criminal attitudes within people. According to the theory bad experiences can create stress among people, which creates and enhances criminal activities among them. In this theory three types of strains are stated. Firstly, criminal activities are aroused, when people are obstructed to achieve their goals, which include relationships that are comprehended as improper and unfair. Secondly, criminal behaviours are aroused, when people have lost their inspiration or inspiring people in their life. For instance, criminal activities are aroused in people, when they lost their loved ones such as their parents or their companions. Further, people tend to be criminal minded when they lost their jobs. Thirdly, criminal behaviours are emerged within people, when they get victim of bad experiences such as sexual abuse, bad relation with parents, bullied by their peers, caught by police and misbehaviour by their employers. As opined by Agnew and Brezina (2019), the theory states that primarily a series of strain are the major causes of creating and enhancing extremist faiths and activities within people.
