With content analysis, this research study seeks to examine how gender roles are portrayed in youth television programs. Particularly among young audiences who are still refining their knowledge of gender, the representation of gender in media has a considerable influence on establishing social norms and expectations. Promoting inclusive and equitable representations requires an understanding of the messages presented in media texts and their potential consequences on adolescents. How are gender roles shown in youth television programs, and what ramifications does this have for young viewers? Is the research question that underpins this study? We look for trends, tropes, and differences in the portrayal of gender roles by analyzing a number of popular youth-oriented television programs. This study is significant because media shapes attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors and has the capacity to reinforce or contradict gender standards. The research is supported by the scholarly literature already in existence on gender portrayal in media, emphasizing the necessity of critical examination of media texts. Studies explicitly looking at gender representation in youth television programs are scarce, nonetheless. By addressing this issue, we hope to further knowledge about how various media texts affect young viewers' perceptions and attitudes towards gender roles. We will investigate the chosen media texts using a content analysis method to detect and classify gender roles, stereotypes, and interactions as well as to look at any potential consequences for young viewers. The results of this study will advance the discipline of media studies as a whole and offer insightful information on how gender is portrayed in young people's media.

With an emphasis on youth television programs, this literature review seeks to synthesize the body of knowledge on gender portrayal in media and its effects. Examining gender stereotypes and how media portrayals reinforce them is a popular subject of research in the field of gender and media studies. Stereotypes are condensed, generalized ideas about the traits, activities, and actions that are associated with a specific gender. These prejudices frequently uphold established power relations and traditional gender standards. Men are typically presented as aggressive, logical, and authoritative, whereas women are frequently characterized as submissive, emotional, and dependant. These preconceptions affect people's self-perception and goals in addition to influencing social expectations (Wegener, Prommer & Linke, 2020). Gender stereotypes in the context of children's television programs can have a significant impact on how young viewers perceive gender roles. Children and teenagers are especially open to media messages and have a propensity to internalize the images they see. According to research, young audiences may develop and reinforce gender-stereotypical views and behaviors through being exposed to stereotypical gender representations in the media.
