Benefits and Drawbacks of Augmented Reality (AR)
Benefits
In respect of the increasing education systems, Augmented Reality has changed the facade. Previously this term was not that popular, recently, Augmented Reality is necessitated with certain parameters, which can attract the students. Firstly, in the season of the pandemic, the students are unable to physically present in the institutes. Therefore, Augmented Reality apps proved richer user manuals (Chen, Liu, Cheng & Huang, 2017). High-speed connectivity is provided with it. Secondly, it helps in increasing the understanding of contents, with lucid explanations. Thirdly, Augmented Reality apps have spatial structure and function, which can give accuracy in information. This is of dire help to the students.
Drawbacks
Firstly, even if augmented reality is published for providing ample benefits, it is not equipped with security checks. Therefore, there are higher risks in getting the information leaked. Alternatively, pirated or false versions of the information have been replaced with genuine ones. Secondly, there are chances of an intruder to hack the devices, which are AR based and can pertain manipulations. Thus, the students or the professors would not be able to use it according to their own choices (Ibáñez & Delgado-Kloos, 2018). Thirdly, highly expensive are the applications of augmented reality. All these are making the systems inferior.
Examples of Technology
Digital Visual Modes
AR uses this feature in order for the fastest delivery of the information to the student users. It is much more flexible in proving smooth communication between the users. The proper communication leads to seeking the attention of the students (Bottani & Vignali, 2019). It is because more students can team up.
Optical Projection Systems
AR has been providing digitalization in the passage of information. Therefore OPS in AR is used for making larger pictures of the small objects of the content.
