Operations managers deal with various problems such as inventory stockouts, late deliveries, quality problems etc. Addressing such issues would definitely improve the organisational performance. Therefore, it is imperative to know the cu
ent and future trends of main topics in Operations Management and the challenges they face in near future with an emphasis on the Australian context. In this assignment you are required to conduct a literature review of a topic in operations management. Below table shows a list of main topics that you can investigate for this assessment task:

4. Developing and using tables, figures, and graphs to summarise the past research on the chosen topic (6 marks). You need to summarise the research that were conducted on your topic in past years (for example, last five or ten years).
5. Overall presentation of the assignment: Clarity of presentation and the sequence of the topics, Table of content, List of Figures/ Tables, List of References, Page numbering, Cover sheet, Appendix (if any) (6 marks)
Important notes and tips:
· For marking criteria 1, 2, and 3 please support your discussion using scholarly journal and conference articles, and government/industry reports. Also, please make sure that you show evidence when you claim something. For example, if you claim that operations practices in Australia are different from say, Malaysia you need to show the evidence. Maybe you say that it is obvious but please remember that you are writing an academic report, so your evidence can not be merely based on anecdotal evidence. You should refer to report, articles etc. as the evidence of your claims.
· You can use any scholarly journals, conferences, government/industry report etc. however please note that you must use at least 10 research articles from any of scholarly journals listed in below table. For example, you can have 5 articles from Journal of Business Logistics and another 5 or 6 articles form Journal of Operations Management. Use Harvard referencing style. See below suggested list of journals. As this is an academic writing then using Wikipedia is not recommended.
· Show the word count on the first page of your report. Stick with word limit. Words beyond limit will not be considered. Please also note that words limit does not include Executive summary, Table of content, reference list, appendix and coversheet.
· All Submissions must be made through Canvas.
Submission Instructions:
· Download and complete the Assignment Cover Page template (See the assignment folder on Canvas) and attach it to your report. The cover page should appear on page 1 of your report.

Late work: All assignments will be marked as if submitted on time. Late submissions of assignments without special consideration or extension will be automatically penalised at a rate of 10% of the total marks available per day (or part of a day) late. For example, if an assignment is worth 20 marks and it is submitted 1 day late, a penalty of 10% or 2 marks will apply. This will be deducted from the assessed mark. Assignments will not be accepted if more than five days late, unless special consideration or an extension of time has been approved.
Extensions and Special Consideration
If your assessment preparation has been impeded by unforeseen circumstances (such as illness, injury, unexpected work commitments or carer responsibilities) you may be eligible for an extension. Â
