Your team has been hired to assist them in setting-up the new bakery. They need your help to build a plan to start the bakery.
Your team has completed the WBS, Precedence Table and identified the Critical Path with the Network Diagram. Your team had a meeting with Frankie and Charlie to review the work when they advised you of the budget, timelines and details regarding working time. Frankie and Charlie set a maximum budget of $250,000 (CAD) and a timeline of
4-months to complete the project. Based on information provided in the meeting your team prepared a project schedule (using MS Project).
Since completing the project schedule, 2-months have passed, and Frankie and Charlie have contacted you with an update. They advise you that there are potential investors in their bakery. This is good news for Frankie and Charlie. Before the investors commit funding, they need to receive an update on the project. The investors are also interested in adding a new line of products to the baked goods.
2- Month Update*
a) Set-up of the location (online or physical) is complete, however, total amount of time required 5-additional days.
) Product Testing is taking longer than expected, since it’s difficult to get the appropriate sample size of customers. Testing of the product is now 7-days behind schedule.
c) Development of the marketing tactics are now 75% complete.
d) Selection of the Equipment is complete, however, delivery and installation is 7- days delayed
e) People work package was completed earlier than planned, with all tasks completed 5-days ahead of plan
* Ensure the Baseline is set before making any updates to the project
New Product Line
The new product line will introduce premium goods that will be sold for a higher margin compared to other goods. These goods will require specialized equipment and ingredients.
· A baker with specialized knowledge will be needed to prepare the new goods.
The cost for this baker is expected to be 10% more than the salary of the ‘regular’ baker, however, this baker is only needed 25% of the time.
· The new equipment cost an additional $5,000 and ingredients costs an additional $1,000
· Testing of the new product line will require a separate series of testing and take 7-days to be completed. This additional round of testing needs to be complete before all products can be commercialized.

The critical Path in this case is K -L - M- N - O - P because it will take the longest amount of time to complete. It will take 50 days to be completed.
Slack
We can see that task K,L,M,N,O and P have no slack because they are on the critical path. They must be completed on time or it will delay the project.
Task A, B, C, D, E , F , G, H, I and J have some slack meaning the project can be delayed without disrupting the overall project.
