The purpose of a literature / artefact review is to show the ‘gap’ in knowledge, research and literature that exists and explain how your topic will fill that gap.
Format:
Please submit the Literature / Artefact Review in a text based format with the appropriate and relevant illustrations in clear reproduction.

Structure of a literature review
Introduction
Your introduction should give an outline of
· why you are writing a review, and why the topic is important
· the scope of the review — what aspects of the topic will be discussed
· the criteria used for your literature selection (e.g.. type of sources used, date range)
· the organisational pattern of the review.
Body paragraphs
Each body paragraph should deal with a different theme that is relevant to your topic. You will need to synthesise several of your reviewed readings into each paragraph, so that there is a clear connection between the various sources. You will need to critically analyse each source for how they contribute to the themes you are researching.
The body could include paragraphs on:
· historical background
· methodologies
· previous studies on the topic
· mainstream versus alternative viewpoints
· principal questions being asked
· general conclusions that are being drawn.
Conclusion
Your conclusion should give a summary of:
· the main agreements and disagreements in the literature
· any gaps or areas for further research
· your overall perspective on the topic.
Checklist for a literature review
Have I:

· recorded the bibliographical details of the sources?
· analysed and critiqued your readings?

IMPORTANT: This course has hard deadlines. Late work will not be accepted and will receive zero (except under exceptional circumstances - read the course assessment policies on learnonline for more information). All requests for extensions must go through learnonline and be accompanied by documentation (e.g. a medical certificate, access plan, counsellor letter) and extensions must be applied for before the assessment deadline. Please send the request to your discipline coordinator.

Please note the deadline for your discipline below. It is your responsibility to adhere to the deadline for your discipline. The deadline listed in the table above in the course outline is for the earliest discipline deadline and all other groups will be given a group extension to the date listed below.

You must include the following sections:
1. Title page (Title of project, student name, ID, and discipline)
2. Abstract (up to 200 words)
3. Introduction (contextual
ackground information, setting the scene, rationale, aims and objectives,
ief summary of literature, etc.)
4. Research questions
5. Literature and/or artefact review (From your previous assignment - for reference only. It is not included in word count and will notbe assessed. It is not expected to be updated since the last submission).
6. Methods and Methodology
7. Research timeline
8. Ethical considerations (if applicable)
9. References (not included in word count)
10. Appendices (if applicable, not included in word count)

You should divide the word count up for each section as suits your project, however the abstract must not be over 200 words.
