Section A
Self Assessment
Based on the self assessment taken over three different test websites, I have conclusively analysed some major personality traits about diversity and conflict. Over the DISC personality test, I have received four major parts of the personality traits which adhere to the conflict management. Steadiness, for example, is one of the attributes that I can infer as very useful in handling conflicts tactfully. Dominance and creating the idealized influencing factor is another factor which I have found in results. While having conflicts, it is necessary as times to be dominant with regard to control the situation. However, the forth major factor that is compliance in the result section gave me insights of seeing others as important factors in managing conflicts and diversity at workplace. Based on the results, I am practical and work oriented individual which is again helpful in the process of managing conflicts.
In the second test results it is mentioned that I have taken, the results are mentioned as complacent and introvert; it is slightly negative standpoint to be introvert that I need to work on in future. My emotional side has been explored in this test as well due to the nature of the questions posed. The test results are mentioned below:
There is a well balanced approach of mind and body, as per the observation of the results and they are mandatory factors to make sure that the management of conflict is processed well at the workplace. On the ground of developing tactic, it is necessary to work a little more in future which I am looking forward to.
The third and final test taken was Johari Window Test. The results are mentioned below:
The test guidelines were to select five keywords that best describe my personality and I opted for the words, able, intelligent, independent, knowledgeable and competent. The results are well in favour of how I have placed myself in the process of conflict management so far.
Section B
Strengths and Weaknesses Reflection
Introduction
Conflict is defined as the disagreement of two or more parties over an ongoing issue or a matter that is of common interest (Caputo et al, 2018). In fact, having conflicts in personal life or at workplace is not necessarily a negative aspect; at times, conflicts in professional life teach some good lessons for life time. At the same time, managing conflicts at workplace is one of the major challenges that the modern professionals have to learn (Wong et al, 2018). Some specific theories and models of managing conflicts are deemed necessary to go through before initiating the process of the same. The following is the analysis of some personality attributes which were obtained through three distinctive test results taken over three different websites. A common relationship has been established in the attributes with regard to testify the degrees of professionalism in managing conflicts.
Strengths
As per the observation of all three tests, there are some common personality traits which are necessary to conflict management. Steadiness is one of them because in the modern context of work, professionals have to work in a diverse cultural environment where the chances of becoming ‘vulnerable’ to conflicting opinions are likely possible. In other words, when there is more than one culture involved at workplace, professional workers find it complicated to manage their professional belief systems (Soliku et al, 2018). In most of the cases, the teams assigned to a particular task have professionals having diversified cultural backgrounds therefore; steadiness is something that gives strength to work and justify the dedication. It puts weight over the opinion expressed with others (Caputo et al, 2018). At the same time, being dominant is no longer a vice at workplace; it enhances the competency level and gives authority to express the opinions strongly. Dominance is closely linked with the knowledge gained at workplace situations. Being knowledgeable in the modern context of work is more like an additional X factor given to the...
