1. After discussion in class of what a summary is vs a critique,
eak into teams, select an Indian movie, then prepare a PPT presentation to the class of: first a summary of the movie and then a
critique of the movie. The movie critique must include sources and audience assessments. This is a team challenge. Use POWERPOINT.
2. Each student must declare a general area of topic interest and then identify a specific aspect of that topic to expand upon for the article critique. This will be the foundation of the thesis project
No two students may declare the same specific topic. General topics wil be limited and must be approved by professor. As a part of the class exercise students must use li

Week 2 Homework Assignment - Article Critique
Article Critique Assignment
For this assignment, you will need to find an article, read it and take notes on it, and then write a critique of that article. The article you choose for this assignment should be
elated to your field of study or to the industry you hope to work for. You will need to write at least one page (300 words minimum) evaluating the article you have read. You
should include a
ief summary of the article that is no more than one or two sentences. If all that you do is summarize the article, you will not pass the assignment. After you
summary. you will critique the source. Follow the guidelines listed below:
Format in APA. This means, include a title page and a references page. They do not have to be perfect. For this assignment, I want to see you practicing the format. We
will cover this during the semester.

« Write at least one page and write in paragraphs. You should not have any lists. You should be practicing writing in paragraphs and linking your ideas so there should not
e any bullet points or numbered lists in your critique
« Your critique should include:
© An introduction that informs your reader the title of the article and the author of the article.
© A 1-2 sentence summary of the article
o For the most part, you should critique the article. This means you iscuss the trustworthiness and
ortance of the article. You can ask yourself questions
like: Is the article published by a reputable source? What is the expertise of the author? What kind of language does the author use? Who is the author's intended
audience? Is the author leaving out important information? How well does the author explore the topic? You do not need to answer all of these questions; they are here
to get you thinking. The majority of this written assignment should be the critique of the article, not the summary.
