Good morning Class,
Please find below the task parameters for your individual case study report, which will be due by 5 pm on 7 June.
The title of the assignment, "Volkswagen AG: Yesterday, Today and Tomo
ow” allows substantial room for individual interpretation – even though the assignment is quite confined in terms of focus (below) and the requirement of evidence-based writing.
The assignment essentially requires you to:
· Thoroughly research and analyse the VW leadership, which cannot be accomplished without a good understanding of the VW organisation. It requires a 'thinking contribution'.
· Please note that AT NO STAGE should you refer to or relate the leadership in the case organisation to known leadership theory i.e. no mention whatsoever should be made of leadership concepts such as transformational leadership, servant leadership, etc.
· Recognise that the quality of your analysis will largely part depend on the quality of your data, which in turn depends on the quality of your research.
The report should focus on providing…
1. A
ief introduction. (± 2.5%)
2. An overview (in
ief) of the company, the nature and scope of its operations, its achievements and its global position and stature (± 15%)
3. A comprehensive and critical analyse VW’s leadership, paying attention to (± 60%)
· The evolution and nature of VW’s leadership (i.e. past, cu
ent, and the reasons for this)
· The interdependence of leadership, corporate culture and organisational change.
· VW’s leadership styles and practices across the globe (across subsidiaries and national cultures)
· Strengths and limitations of VW’s leadership
· A cost-benefit analysis of leader effectiveness,
· A view on the enduring consequences and ‘contribution' of VW’s leadership.
4. A concise ‘diagnostic' statement on VW’s leadership (± 5%)
5. Recommendations to sustainably co
ect, improve or optimise VW’s leadership (± 15%)
6. A
ief conclusion (± 2.5%)
Performance parameters:
· This is an individual report submitted via Turnitin only
· Clearly structured and formatted
· 3000 words +/ –10% excluding title, table of contents, abstract, reference list, appendices
· A minimum of 15 quality, scholarly sources
· The use of a range of quality sources generally (e.g. credible and verifiable media reports, industry reports, investigative reports, credible case studies).
· Creativity as you are able to marshal it.
Questions in class and by mail.
Enjoy.
